SixthSense: Your Digital Life Anytime, Anywhere!

Photo: Parts of a SixthSense device.
Have you heard of The Sixth Sense? From Mistry's website, he defined it as "a wearable gestural interface that augments the physical world around us with digital information and lets us use natural hand gestures to interact with that information."

This epic technology is a product Pranav Mistry's idea that we do not need to divide our world into two - which is the physical and the digital world. I'm not going to discuss the history here, you can just Google it or watch the video on TED.com

I'd just summarize the things it can do and rate it according to my liking preferences. :-)

Easy-capture camera feature. [☺☺☺☺☺]
Yeah, I was amazed with it. Just to share with you, I often go to anime events just to take pictures of cosplayers. :3 With this device, I can collect more photos of them without having to wait for every shutter to finish. I'd just to the take-a-photo gesture and that's it. :-)

Check the time with the virtual clock. [☺☺☺☺]
It's an easy cool way to check your time. Enough said.

Dial on your palm. [☺☺☺☺☺]
Type those numbers with your palm and you're on line.

Simplest way to access the simplest information. [☺☺☺☺☺]
Imagine when you need to evaluate a product while on a grocery. You don't need to check your PDA every now and then for every product you see on the shelves.

Drag and drop information. [☺☺☺☺☺]
It is amazing how you could do that in a simple way without using USB devices and taking your precious time. Imagine when you're on the road and the vehicles serve as the USB devices to take you to where you want to go. With just this device, imagine like you're teleporting from one place to another! Without traffic.

Organize your files on the wall.  [☺☺]
Meh. I don't think this is cool. Who wants to see your photos on the wall in public places? Unless you're doing that at home or in the cubicle. Good thing you can also do that on a paper or on your desk, atleast there are other options! :-)

Play games! [☺☺☺]
Yay! I was amazed at the car racing game on the video. It follows the user's gestures when he rotate the paper on the left, your car will turn left, and vice versa.

Watch videos (and movies).  [☺☺]
This is cool... not really. When I'm watching movies, I see to it that I enjoy it by watching it in high definition. I think they disregard the showing of proper color contrasts using SixthSense. Well, it's a projector. What can I say?

Be updated. [☺☺☺☺☺]
Yes, when you read the newspaper and check the weather, it needs to be accurate and updated. By using this device, you can easily update yourself with the latest news online. I wonder if the obituary section can be updated, too?

Draw on the wall. [☺]
Who wants to draw a distorted face on the wall? I think there is no future for this feature. Since drawing (in the physical world) needs the pen (or any other drawing paraphernalia) to directly contact with the paper (or any drawing support), there is no point on this. Well, except you just want to have fun.

Overall [☺☺☺☺]

I can say that this invention will have so many uses especially in the future. Don't worry, Mistry said himself that this invention is for the masses. This wouldn't be just another business out there that limits the possibilities just for money. This is innovation.
